Senior Data Scientist
Our client, a leading Financial Services firm based in Doha, Qatar are looking to hire a Data Scientist which will be the first role of this kind within its Data Operations & AI department. The role has been created to leverage statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to develop data-driven solutions, support data platform design, and execute priority data use cases that provide actionable insights to the business.
Responsibilities
- Apply data mining techniques, conduct statistical analysis, and use scripting skills to experiment with data and explore a wide range of datasets searching for insights and helping businesses unlock value through data
- Develop ML algos and build high-quality prediction systems integrated with internal systems and products
- Design, build, test and maintain new data platform in collaboration with data engineers, data modellers, data architects, cloud engineers and business stakeholders
- Engage in the entire lifecycle of data analysis, including data collection, cleaning, exploration, modeling, productionalizing ML algos. Monitoring BAU workloads and interpretation of results
- Develop sophisticated analytical and predictive frameworks to support business decisions and strategic initiatives
Key Skills/Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, preferably Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance or a related field
- Deep understanding of machine learning, data mining, statistical modeling, and predictive analysis
- Experience in Python and SQL (DDL, DML)
- Hands-on experience working with Snowflake and using SnowPark for Python workloads
- Knowledge of Jupyter Notebook, Jupyter Hub/Lab
- Knowledge of ingesting data from common RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server) and cloud DWHs
- 5+ years of professional experience in a data science role with a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating expertise in Machine Learning & advanced analytics
Please note – relocation to Doha, Qatar and working full time from there is required.
