Position Surveillance Associate – Initial 12 Month FTC – Commodities – Hybrid
Our client are seeking a Position Surveillance Associate to join their Market Surveillance function. This is a key role in ensuring the integrity of global commodities and derivatives markets through the monitoring of positions, oversight of reporting, and publication of accurate market data.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of trading activity, regulatory oversight, and market integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor trading positions to identify activity that could impact market integrity.
- Calculate, issue, and oversee compliance with lending rules on a daily basis.
- Assist with receipt, validation, and analysis of exchange-traded and OTC position reports.
- Conduct accountability level monitoring and oversight of large positions.
- Publish market data reports and manage corrections when necessary.
- Work with members and participants to ensure accurate, complete, and timely submission of position data.
- Collaborate with internal operations teams on performance monitoring and reporting.
- Support projects to enhance surveillance systems and processes.
- Assist with regulatory reporting, requests for information, and internal management reporting.
- Draft and maintain clear procedure manuals.
- Stay abreast of market and regulatory developments affecting surveillance practices.
About You
They’re looking for someone with a strong academic and professional foundation, ideally with experience in commodities, derivatives, or financial markets.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree (2:1 or above) in Mathematics, Economics, Business, Accounting, or a related quantitative subject.
- Understanding of exchange-traded derivatives, OTC derivatives or commodity markets.
- 1-5 years of experience in Compliance, Risk or Operations.
- Excellent analytical, written, and communication skills.
- Strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel (macros desirable).
Desirable Experience:
- Systems design or process improvement projects.
- Development and implementation of surveillance tools and frameworks.
